Welcome to Friends of Christ Church Students' Union!
23/11/2006
Calling all Christ Church graduates, staff and friends in general. We'd like to let you know about an exciting new project that we want you to be a part of!
Endorsed by Christ Church Students’ Union and the University Vice-Chancellor and supported by C4 Old Boys/Girls, the Friends of Christ Church Students' Union Association aims to bring together all those people who were once students at Christ Church. Run as a not for profit society, we aim to create a space for you to get back in touch, communicate with each other, and find out about social events and reunions. By doing this, we will be continuing and expanding the Christ Church community that we were once all part of.
Above all, we want to unleash the huge networking potential of past Christ Church students in a more structured way. We plan to open access to this network to students presently involved in running the Students’ Union at Christ Church, whether as Union officers, club or society leaders, or just enthusiasts, so that they can seek help and advice from a pool of former students who want to support them. We hope to give them the benefit of ideas and knowledge developed through the years.
We will also raise money for the Students’ Union, to be channelled back as funding for special projects designed to improve access and participation by current students, or improve their relationship with the wider community. For example, we might provide funding to set up clubs at the University's smaller campuses, to support a particular athlete who couldn't otherwise compete to their full ability or to modify equipment so it is suitable for use by disabled students.
For a subscription of just £20 each year (that’s less than £2 per month!), you will benefit from:
• Invitations to annual networking and fundraising events, where you can socialise with other Christ Church graduates
• A regular e-newsletter keeping you up to date on what's going on in the Students’ Union, at the University and with other graduates
• Access to the Friends' website, with its online contacts database, news and features
• The right to come to the Friends’ AGM, put forward your own proposals for things the association should do, vote in the elections for the management committee, or even get involved in running the association yourself
• The knowledge that your money will put something back into current student activities at Christ Church – your chance to give something back!
So please sign up as a new member today! This is a way that all of us that benefited from the SU, be it welfare, education, representation, societies, events or sport, to give something back.
Friends of Christ Church Students' Union is a not-for-profit association, open to all, and run for and by its members. Managed by an elected committee, who are all unpaid volunteers, its objectives are to promote contact amongst current and former Christ Church students, and to support the Union with advice, networking and project funding
